Balchik Airport
Still no real news on the airport.I think it is going to be a small affair with little traffic.I cannot see that the building work and the airlines will be in place by next summer.People should not believe what politicians say during election campaigns. In the meantime I will trawl the internet for news and keep readers updated.

Stormy Weather
Monday and Tuesday were horrendous here weather wise. There was torrential rain and strong winds.I was without power from 8.30 at night till 1pm the next day.I think a lot of houses were damaged and my house had a small water leak. The weather is now sunny and warm, but it was certainly weird weather for this time of year. There was even snow in some areas.
On another note I have now closed the 'Where will you stay in Bulgaria this year ?' poll which, unsurprisingly, had Sunny Beach as the clear winner.I am currently deciding on the next poll topic, so if you have any ideas let me know.
Thanks to TravelerVoice for shortlisting us for their 'Living Abroad' blog category.I gather we did well and am proud to show their logo gift to us in the right hand column.

www.mybulgaria.info is for sale !!
Very surprised to see that the 'My Bulgaria' website is now for sale.It was a useful meeting and info point for ex-pats and visitors to Bulgaria, but underlying it was a commercial enterprise and it obviously is not making money any more.Obviously there will be a new buyer at some stage, but I would not hold my breath.
In the meantime any 'My Bulgaria' refugees are more than welcome here.

Ex-Pat Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) for Dobrich Region
I am interesting in co-sponsoring an NGO for the Dobrich region.First question you will ask is 'What is an NGO' ?.The answer is that it is an organisation that represents the interests of a particular group, for example an environmental or human rights group. An NGO has a statutory right to be consulted on matters within it's remit by national and local government..
For this reason an organisation to represent the ex-patriot community to central and local government could be useful (for instance problems with bureaucracy regulations etc).
If you live in the region and are interested let me know.

Last of the Sunny Days
Great afternoon with friends in Balchik yesterday, we sat on the decking outside the Panorama and it was brilliantly sunny and warm.Today will be another bright day but after that the weather starts to change with more rain.Time for the fire to be lit by the end of the month I think.

Snack Bar Nord, Sea Garden,Varna
I went for a nice walk through the Sea Garden yesterday afternoon which was very pleasant with the sunshine out after a cold wet morning.
We had intended to eat in the Godzilla Pizzeria but it was closed, as were most of the places. However we stumbled upon Nord where we sat by the beach and I had an absolutely huge plate of Hake with Saute Potatoes and a couple of beers, all for only 9lv.I could not finish my meal it was so huge !.My colleagues had Tsatsa (whitebait) an enormous salad, a small beer and two soft drinks and the whole bill was just over 20lv.Great value and well recommended.
