The Sofia Spring !.

Resignation Update

The parliamentary vote on the cabinet's resignation will be on Thursday. GERB still has a majority in parliament. Is it at all possible that the resignation will not be accepted ?.

The answer to my question is no.The government has actually thrown in the towel. The elections must now be brought forward, as the situation is now unstable and will play into the hands of extremists. The President will try and form a caretaker government, but the mathematics of the current parliament mitigate against it.

A safe prediction is that Stanishev, the BSP leader, will be Premier within a few weeks.

The government has fallen. There was violence in Sofia last night and several injuries. Borissov, the Prime Minister has fallen on his word before, presumably, he was pushed. However, Bulgaria may now be without a government until the July elections, not good at a time of crisis.

Bulgarian Electricity Price Protests

Here was the scene outside Varna town hall last night. The protests coincided with the Vasil Levski commemorations. The government has already sacked the Czech company CEZ which supplies Western Bulgaria, including Sofia.

Prosecute the Sun for this article

This article is basically about showing Bulgarians in Sofia pictures of plasma tv's and telling them lies about the benefits system. The tables shown show the UK as the first best place for benefits, if you look at the attached figures it is bollocks.Julius Streicher and 'Der Sturmer' could not do better !.

Not good news for the stagnant Bulgarian property market.

An interesting story.

Here is the text of a conversation that I had last night with a Bulgarian friend who lives in the UK and is working at two jobs to support herself and her children.I think it speaks for itself in this often crazy debate we are having about Bulgarian immigration into the UK.

"you know today
I was in one supermarket and I looked for bay leaves
and one English man started chatting with me about bay leaves
he has in his garden and I didn`t know that I can grow it
and in the end of that he ask me 'where are you from ?'.
I said from Bulgaria
he said 'Oh you are then from good Bulgarians'
 that made me sad
I explain him that we are good people and if some of our gypsies go abroad and make bad things that doesn`t mean that we are bad
I can`t explain you now all conversation but in the end I think changed his opinion about us."

Well readers so far this month we have learned that, rather than read serious news about the Balkans, most of you would rather look up the censored skirt of a Serbian female 'journalist'. Well lets face it, who wouldn't ?.
However to make yourselves look good, please spend a few moments looking at my property and building website here in Bulgaria

Amazing bargains and even more on request.

A bemused Uncle Bulgaria.
