The Bulgarian government was anti-semitic for most of this period, and where Bulgarian troops were fighting alongside the Germans in area's outside Bulgaria, there was some assistance given in rounding up and deporting Jews.

I tend to take all estimates and published figures of tourism in Bulgaria with a pinch of salt, as they are unreliable, badly collated and generally questionable.

However, one does feel that, because of events in the Middle-East, Bulgaria is becoming a more attractive option.
