Summer's Coming !

The first foreign tourists arrived in Varna yesterday.A party of 164 German pensioners arrived for a hotel/spa break in Golden Sands and Sunny Beach. They pay 1000 Euros for the holiday plus 290 Euros for the health treatment.Nice work if you can get it !.
All I can garner from the press statements is that they are predicting an increase in German and Romanian tourism, ominously British tourism appears to have largely dropped out of the equation.Ominously because they are the biggest spenders and because they are the mainstay of the property market.

  1. Hi UB,

I'm back again lol.....I've had a quick search of your blog but didn't find an up to date cost of living break down for Bulgaria.

Damn Government price hikes here in Turkey in the budget Jan 2010, 10 to 50%..OUCH!!

    Mince Meat 1kg = 10.50 GBP
    Petrol 1 Litre = 1.65 GBP
Annual visa = 400 GBP each

Most general food stuffs (Bread, milk, vegies etc) are now above UK prices here.

İnternet/phone line 30 GBP month (Low quality intermitant)

Electric went up 30%, now equal to UK price.

Do you have a link you could paste for me, or do you roughly know the cost of living (up to date) for Bulgaria. I've found some Bulgaria cost of living examples on the internet but they are mostly two or three years old.

    Cheers,

    Dave....

  3. Thanks for that UB...Bulgaria, whilst not being as cheap to live as before is certainly much cheaper than Turkey. I would guess some of the price increase there are due to the GBP exchange rate, which should start to claw its way back next year.

We have not been too affected here by the Pound falling on its arse because the Lira has fallen also, cost of living increases here are all due to Gov. taxation and price controls.

    Cheers,

    Dave....

  4. Yes obviously the pound has lost 30% of its value so that has an effect. It was 2.94 now 2.15.It has thrown alot of peoples equations out of the window.I cannot see the pound getting beyond 2.40 for a couple of years.
