Most other places in the world it is the commercial celebration of a non existent Catholic saint called St. Valentine.However in Bulgaria it is also St. Trifons Day, which is the orthodox saint for wine.This is also referred to as 'men's day'. This is particularly prevalent in the villages and basically consists of guys going into the countryside and eating and drinking.I am invited on Monday so will give you a full report, but I have to make sure I spoil my girlfriend with compliments before we disappear off !.
