It is not often that this blog can give a contemporaneous story of flight delays in Bulgaria, but here goes..
My friend is on this flight, I saw that the airport was not even open till this afternoon so expected it would be delayed.
I just received a call from him to say that it looks like delayed till 4am at earliest. There is also a Moscow flight delayed since 1pm.
My immediate advice to anyone delayed by Wizzair is get receipts for everything.I paid 60lv for a place on a private minibus from Sofia to Varna, after a fog bound Varna caused us to land in the capitol. They lied that there were buses outside the airport to get us off the plane. There were of course none, and when we claimed against them they refused to pay, as we did not have receipts (as if Varna passengers got to Varna via telepathy !) .The problem with Wizzair is obviously not the snow, it is the abysmal lack of information and customer care. The flight that they are supposed to take was originally redirected to Sofia, but is now back in London. Now basic maths says that if it was supposed to land in Burgas at 6pm and is now in London it cannot possibly be back in Burgas till at least 3 am (i.e. 3 hours back to London, change of crew possibly, passengers and luggage who may want to disembark another 2 hours, plus new take off time another 1 hour plus. 4 am minimum take off).
Random factor it will be -9 tonight.
Get receipts for all food/drink incurred and threaten them with IATA/ABTA.
UPDATE: The Burgas and Varna flights were bussed from Burgas at about midnight. They flew from Sofia to Luton via two chartered flights which landed at 8am GMT. At least this time Wizzair get commended for actually getting the passengers home.
