Uncle's Comment: Sofia comes out at the 5th cheapest city in the world !.And remember the basket of goods they use to measure this is high end; ie 4/5 star hotels.I can stay in a 3 star in Sofia for £16 a night with breakfast.A taxi from the hotel to the centre is £2.50. A pint in my favourite pub, the 'Thirsty Dragon' is £1.In my hotel, my room card gets me 20% off all food and drink; so I can have a three course meal with a bottle of wine for £12.Sofia is a city that has some hidden gems beneath a sometimes unappealing exterior.
